Botox has been around for nigh on a century and initially avoided because of its poisonous properties it didn’t take long for boffins to realize that this poison had very little side effects and was no worse than enjoying half a glass of wine. It’s worth noting that alcohol is considered a poison too, so when reading about Botox and being scare mongered into believing you are injecting a poison into your skin, remember that you are consuming much less than a glass of wine, and taking on less chemicals and toxins than you would if you enjoyed just one cigarette.

The side effects from Botox for humans is negligible, and it was this revelation when converting it into it’s pure form that initially saw Botox being used for a number of medical procedures. In fact, hospitals readily use Botox to relax muscles, and doctors will inject you with it after surgery to stop stitches splitting, without ever telling you that this is what was in the needle.

As campaigners and worriers scold me for enjoying the vanity side of Botox, I have to chuckle to myself a little, as although I am vain, and being in the public eye I like to look my best, these people have most probably been injected with Botox at some time in their life without ever realizing.

Surely I am the victor in this debate as I had time to make an informed decision I could research thoroughly, and as the skilled practitioner at Botastic injected the Botox into my brow and around my crow’s feet, I was fully aware of the substance in the syringe and the effects it would have on my face.

However, the ones that tell me I’m foolish as to be so vain as to have a poison to make me look younger have not even had a warning, and are still walking around believing they have never come in contact with this medicine at all.

As the Botox has also cured my headaches- another of its miracle uses, if I was inclined to follow the pack and apologise for my vanity I would use this as an excuse. However, I’m proud to be part of Botastic, I’m proud to visit frequently for my Botox, and I’m proud to be looking absolutely amazing.

Instead of looking in the mirror twice as much I’ve now halved my looking glass adventures, as I don’t need to take frequent trips to touch up the foundation that previously filled in the wrinkles!

As a smoker too, I received the best compliment of all this week, when asked for ID whilst buying cigarettes. Never mind that I had my eleven year old daughter by my side!
Now that’s what I call a Botastic result!
