Incredibly, we'll soon be celebrating 10 years in business, and having recently invested in doubling the number of treatment rooms to meet ever-increasing demand, we have had a look back at our story so far.
Botastic MediSpa was launched in 2010 by Eve Bird.
Eve had previously worked as a Critical Care Nurse, dealing with medical traumas such as heart attacks and strokes. She has 20 years’ experience in the NHS.
It was when working as a nurse practitioner in a GP Surgery that Eve began having treatments herself. As an independent nurse she could prescribe and administer Botox to clients herself, but was surprised at the lack of regulations surrounding the drug and how it is administered.
As a result she enrolled on courses and began Botox treatments for friends and family, but soon found she was in demand from others.
In 2012 Eve decided to commit more time and money into her growing business, converting a bedroom at her home into a treatment room and a second room into a waiting room. The foundations had been laid for a specialist business in high demand.
Growth through demand
Eve knew the importance of infection control and it was with this in mind that she decided to dedicate herself to the business full-time and open a bespoke clinic with hospital-standard cleanliness.
This led to a move to new premises in 2015, creating a high-standard clinic with quality medical floors and fittings, oak doors and a welcoming waiting area, with sterile but comfortable treatment rooms.
However, just three years later, the business had already outgrown the location, and so when a residential property in Weeton Way, Anlaby, came onto the market, Eve saw the potential instantly.
After successfully applying for planning permission for change of use, Eve bought the property and, following a six-figure investment, transformed it into the top-spec aesthetic clinic customers visit today.
The Botastic experience
Botastic MediSpa has evolved into a high-end specialist aesthetic clinic, with its standards and experience setting it apart from the majority of its competitors.
It has established itself as an industry leader, attracting clients from far afield as its reputation has spread through recommendation. Offering treatments and procedures from dermal fillers to lip and cheek enhancements and line reducing anti-wrinkle injections and skin peels, it specialises in offering industry-leading anti-ageing procedures.
At Botastic MediSpa, it is not just about the expertise and leading treatments, but also the experience. A welcoming and luxurious waiting room with leather sofas, feature fireplace, velvet chairs and scatter cushions and luxurious drapes framing the windows has been created. Speciality coffees and teas are offered to visitors on arrival, and discretion and privacy is maintained at all times.
Such has been the demand, Eve has recently further invested by renovating a large room at the side of the property, to turn it into two further treatment rooms. A further investment was made to bring a new chemical and surgery-free anti-ageing treatment - which is proving popular with the stars and is already hugely successful in the US, to the clinic.
Favoured by Kim Kardashian and David Beckham, the ‘Endymed’ treatment is available at just 19 UK clinics, with Botastic MediSpa the only one offering it in East Yorkshire.
Tailor-made treatment in customers’ best interests
The combination and quality of the medical expertise and treatments, all provided in a comfortable, but clinical setting, ensures rave reviews and repeat clients.
Each client has a consultation with Eve at the outset, where they discuss their objectives, reasons for wanting treatment and expectations before a tailor-made package is offered based on her experience of likely results combined with their requests.
It is all about the best interests of the customer, so that means not all are taken on for treatment, with emphasis very much on getting the right treatment for each person. Clients who demand Botox injections, but don’t need them and won’t benefit from them, have been politely turned away and given advice on how best to keep their skin looking healthy when Eve has felt treatment was not in their best interests.
Clients are invited back for reviews after treatments to ensure results are always of the highest standard, and it is this commitment which sees customers returning time and time again.
Eve has devised her own medical questionnaire, and client records are all uploaded onto an online system which is data-protected, with bespoke after-care plans also drawn up on what to expect, and what happens next after a treatment.
There are relatively few clinics like Eve’s in an industry regulators are still catching up with, as many treatments such as Botox, for now, are unregulated. It sadly means people can start administering treatments after taking just a half-day course, and somebody new comes into that industry on a weekly basis.
Eve is hoping for regulation to be introduced, ultimately for patient safety, as she sees around one patient a month who has had their lips injected and suffered a blocked artery when treated by someone else in the industry. There could be significant news soon with regard to regulations and standards.
For now, with several thousand registered clients, Eve is delighted to have such a large number of happy customers who are delighted with the service and treatments provided, and is excited to welcome those who are new to all Botastic MediSpa has to offer.
